Privacy Policy — Recce

Recce keeps your data on your device. Form and Light Studio (operated by Mohamed Rageeb) does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any of it.

Recce is a field notebook for wildlife and landscape photographers. This policy explains how Recce handles your information.

1. What Recce stores, and where

Everything you create in Recce — notes, reference photos, sites, folders, reminders, and location coordinates — is stored locally on your device. There are no accounts, no sign-in, and no cloud sync. Form and Light Studio (operated by Mohamed Rageeb) operates no server and receives none of your data.

2. Permissions Recce asks for

  • Location. Recce records your GPS coordinates when you save a note or capture a photo, and uses your current location to show nearby spots on the Globe map. These coordinates are stored on your device.
  • Camera. Recce uses the camera to capture reference and composition photos, which are saved on your device.
  • Microphone and speech recognition. Recce can transcribe spoken notes into text. This is performed by on-device speech recognition — your audio is not sent to any server. If on-device recognition is unavailable, dictation is disabled rather than switching to a network service.

You can review or change any of these permissions at any time in the iOS Settings app.

3. Apple's built-in services

Some features rely on Apple's built-in system services rather than any service operated by Form and Light Studio (operated by Mohamed Rageeb):

  • Maps. The Globe map, and the conversion of GPS coordinates into readable place names, use Apple Maps. To return a place name, iOS sends the relevant coordinates to Apple. This is handled by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy; Form and Light Studio (operated by Mohamed Rageeb) neither performs nor receives these lookups.
  • Notifications. Revisit reminders are scheduled locally on your device.

Your use of these Apple services is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

4. Backups you create

Recce lets you export a backup of your data. The backup file is created on your device and saved wherever you choose (for example, Files or iCloud Drive). This file is unencrypted, so store it somewhere secure. Form and Light Studio (operated by Mohamed Rageeb) does not receive or have access to your backups.

5. Sharing notes

Recce can export individual notes as .recnote files that you share using iOS — for example, via AirDrop or the Files app. You control whether and with whom you share these; Form and Light Studio (operated by Mohamed Rageeb) is not involved in the transfer.

6. Data collection, tracking, and advertising

Recce contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party software development kits. Recce does not track you across other apps or websites.

7. Children

Recce is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
